Zachary is 21 and in the adult phase of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
In the last phase of Duchenne, there is increased difficulty in breathing. Life-threatening heart and lung conditions. Regular heart and lung monitoring is required, medications necessary, breathing support needed, complete loss of using arms, legs, and he will need to eat through a feeding tube.

Historically, boys with Duchenne typically die in their late 20s to early 30s due to complications with their heart and lungs. Zachary is now 21 and needs around the clock care.

Zachary lives with his single mom. She is unable to work, suffers from seizures  and cares for Zachary 24/7.

It is his mother’s greatest wish to keep Zachary home, comfortable. with the necessary home modifications, care and medical equipment he needs.

Zachary lives in rental  home in rural South Carolina.  He is 4 hours from the Muscular Dystrophy clinic and his family.  He needs to buy a home that will accommodate him, and is closer to both.

Zachary and his mom found a bank owned property just 15 minutes from family. They need to raise money for the down payment, closing costs, home repairs, Zachary’s bathroom and bedroom modifications, moving expenses, independent ceiling lift system, care assist hospital bed, electric patient lift, and other medical equipment.

Zachary and his mom plan to “pay it forward” by donating all of their belongings not absolutely necessary for them. ( furniture, home decor, clothing, shoes, handbags, dishes, medical equipment) to homeless shelters if their goal is met
