Dear Friends & Family,

We are starting this GoFundMe in honor of our dear friend and teammate Ryan Maloney and his amazing family. For any of you that may not know, Ryan suffered a spinal cord injury on Friday night 7/5 while enjoying time with his friends at the Jersey Shore. Since then, Ryan has had no movement in his legs, but does have sensation below his waist. He received emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his spinal cord upon arriving at the hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning. The medical diagnosis is a bilateral C6-7 facet dislocation of his cervical spine with an incomplete spinal cord injury. As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly traumatic experience and will continue to be an uphill battle for Ryan.

Ryan, as you all know, is one of the most genuine and goodhearted kids you’ll ever meet. As utterly terrifying as the past few days have been, Ryan’s strength and positive attitude through this incredibly trying time have proven unwavering. We are all so proud of our brother and teammate, his resilience will undoubtedly pull him through this nightmare.

There is no definitive timetable for  Ryan’s progress since spinal cord injuries are so complex and sensitive, but he is determined to remain in good spirits and work hard to regain mobility in his legs. We are all hoping and praying for his recovery!

We set up this GoFundMe page as a communication platform to ensure we keep all of Ryan’s wonderful friends and family up to date on his status and progress. As you can imagine, the Maloney family will incur significant medical expenses during this process, so any donations towards Ryan’s recovery are so greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, prayers and good vibes are just as important!

The Maloney family thanks the many friends and family who have reached out to support Ryan through this difficult time. The outpouring of love and encouragement has been overwhelmingly touching and instrumental in aiding Ryan’s battle to get as healthy as possible!

This page was set up with love by Ryan’s Cornell Lacrosse family. We’re all rooting for you buddy!
